BLADES2BUILD Second demonstrator!
🔔 BLADES2BUILD successfully advances with its second demonstrator! ✅
👏 The BLADES2BUILD project has completed its second demonstrator, in which Wind Turbine Blade Waste concrete was used to build a full-scale floor slab. This milestone, carried out by Holcim and ACCIONA on June 18th, involved placing over 20 m³ of a more sustainable and circular concrete, developed with Holcim’s ECOCycle® approach. This concrete contains more than 10% waste, including material from decommissioned wind turbine blades.
👉 The ECOCycle® concrete developed by Holcim for the BLADES2BUILD project does not require any changes to the conventional production process, enabling its industrial-scale implementation. In addition, the project will assess the durability of this concrete to validate its long-term performance.
🔎 The park has more than 1200 m2 at the service of the Technological Division of ACCIONA CONSTRUCTION to carry out research tests of construction materials and systems for both internal research lines for business and for national and international research projects since 2010.
📍 Another step forward towards a circular economy and the decarbonization of the construction sector. ➡️
🤫 Stay tuned, tomorrow we will reveal to you the first demonstrator of BLADES2BUILD!
