πβ»οΈ A Successful First Full Day at the BLADES2BUILD Workshop in Aachen!
π Following yesterdayβs welcome and networking session, we are delighted to share that 8 October marked the successful completion of the first full day of our BLADES2BUILD Workshop, βEnvironmental Compliance and Sustainability Beyond Compliance for Circular WTB Solutions,β hosted at RWTH Aachen University, Germany! π
π We started the day with an introduction to the BLADES2BUILD project, delivered by Global Consulting Sustainability AS (GCS), the project’s Dissemination & Communication (D&C) leader, highlighting the project’s objectives, ongoing activities and contribution to advancing circular solutions for end-of-life wind turbine blades.
π¬ The programme continued with expert lectures, technical insights and practical demonstrations, addressing key aspects of environmental compliance and the safe, sustainable reuse of wind turbine blade materials by RWTH Aachen University and the Institute of Building Materials Research at RWTH Aachen University (ibac).
Throughout the day, participants explored:
π Regulatory frameworks for environmental compatibility and circular construction materials
βοΈ Relevant standards and testing principles for recycled materials
π§ͺ Practical demonstrations of testing concepts and leaching procedures
π¬ Analytical approaches for inorganic and organic substances
π· Occupational health and safety considerations for processing recycled composites
π¬ Engaging discussions and knowledge exchange on the challenges and opportunities of circular WTB solutions
π€ A sincere thank you to all our speakers, participants and organisers for their valuable contributions, active engagement and enthusiasm throughout the day!
ποΈ And the day is not over yet! This evening, we will continue with a city tour of Aachen, offering a wonderful opportunity to discover the city, strengthen connections and enjoy further informal networking.
π Tomorrow, 9 October, we continue! Our second day will focus on sustainability assessment, circularity, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), practical case studies and hands-on activities.
π From environmental compliance to circular innovation β together, we are advancing sustainable solutions for wind turbine blade materials! π±
