Sustainability and circularity take centre stage in Brussels!

๐Ÿ‘‰ On 9 December 2025, the EUPAVE, the European Concrete Paving Association, presented its first Outstanding Projects and Innovations Awards in Brussels โ€” and we are proud to share that BLADES2BUILD has received the Outstanding Innovation Award (OIA)๐Ÿ†

๐Ÿ“Œ The award was received on behalf of BLADES2BUILD by Amaia Gรณmez San Martรญn (ACCIONA), Quentin Favre-Victoire (Holcim), and Tao Liu (DTU – Technical University of Denmark) for the innovation:

โ€œTurning End of Life Wind Turbine Blades into Concrete Roads and Structures: A First European Experimentation.โ€

๐Ÿšง Validated in our real-world demonstrators

โ€ข Endesa โ€“ Circular Repowering Platform (Aldeavieja, Spain): recycled blade fibres and aggregates used in concrete with high mechanical performance and a significantly lower carbon footprint, supported by electric mixer trucks.

โ€ข ACCIONA โ€“ Circular Slab Prototype (Madrid, Spain): a 120 mยฒ industrial slab built with ECOCycleยฎ concrete (Holcim), low-emission cement, and recycled aggregates, including end-of-life wind blade materials.

๐Ÿ‘ Congratulations to EUPAVE, the European Concrete Paving Association and all award recipients, and thank you to our team for contributing to a more sustainable built environment.

๐Ÿ’ก This award confirms that sustainability & circularity are no longer a conceptโ€”itโ€™s being built into our infrastructure. ๐Ÿ‘

โœŒ What a wonderful way to close the year, and a strong motivation heading into 2026 ๐Ÿš€ ๐Ÿ”œ
