Sustainability and circularity take centre stage in Brussels!

👉 On 9 December 2025, the EUPAVE, the European Concrete Paving Association, presented its first Outstanding Projects and Innovations Awards in Brussels — and we are proud to share that BLADES2BUILD has received the Outstanding Innovation Award (OIA)🏆

📌 The award was received on behalf of BLADES2BUILD by Amaia Gómez San Martín (ACCIONA), Quentin Favre-Victoire (Holcim), and Tao Liu (DTU – Technical University of Denmark) for the innovation:

“Turning End of Life Wind Turbine Blades into Concrete Roads and Structures: A First European Experimentation.”

🚧 Validated in our real-world demonstrators

• Endesa – Circular Repowering Platform (Aldeavieja, Spain): recycled blade fibres and aggregates used in concrete with high mechanical performance and a significantly lower carbon footprint, supported by electric mixer trucks.

• ACCIONA – Circular Slab Prototype (Madrid, Spain): a 120 m² industrial slab built with ECOCycle® concrete (Holcim), low-emission cement, and recycled aggregates, including end-of-life wind blade materials.
